Safety
We know that safety is a key concern for parents and teachers before any school camp or
field trip. We apreciate the trust that is put in us by parents and teachers, when their children visit Arthur's Pass, and we take the responsibilities we bear seriously.
We have, over the decades that the centre has been operating, developed a range of activities that have proven to be fun and educational, without exposing participants to significant risk. However risk cannot
be entirely removed from any activity, so we minimise the remaining risk by:
1. Employing an experienced and qualified manager to oversee the programme
2. Maintaining and following a safety plan that is regularly reviewed
3. Maintaining a log of significant incidents or near misses, so that we can learn from these
4. Seeking input from other organisations in the outdoor industry so that we keep abreast of
changes to accepted practices
