Sample Programme


Flexibility!

Below is a sample programme for a year 4-8 group visiting Arthur's Pass for 3 days. You can visit the Activities page to find out more about the activities we have on offer. We are very flexible with our programme to allow for your preferences, the needs of your group and of course the weather! We are open to any suggestions and ideas you have. Longer camps (i.e 4 days or a week) are also possible.

Day One

10:45am
Arrive in Arthur's Pass, Organise bunkrooms and settle in.
Lodge safety briefing.
Manager discusses the operation of the lodge with teacher and adults.

12:00pm
Lunch.

1 pm
Prepare for Punchbowl Falls walk.

1:30am
Punchbowl Falls walk. River crossing activity possible on the return walk.

4.30pm
Camp diaries, dinner preparation, free time etc.

Day Two

9:30am-4pm
Day walk (e.g Bridal Veil and onto Bealy Valley, Bealy Spur Track, Scott's Track..).


OR 9am - 12.30am
A half day walk up the Bridal Veil Track. Return to Lodge for Lunch.

1.30pm - 5pm
Slpit the class in two groups for Rotations (e.g. Sensory Trail and Stretcher Making).

OR a day of Rotations

Group One - Sensory Trail
Group Two - Sketching
Group Three - Historic Walk

10:30-11:00am
Morning tea.

11:00am-12:00pm
Second Rotation.

12:00-1:00pm
Lunch.

1:00-2:00pm
Third Rotation.

2:00-2:30pm
Afternoon tea.

2:30am onwards
Open to suggestions. Short walk, games/sports, free time, bush study?

Day Three

9:00am
Clean up of lodge.
Orienteering (1.5 hours).

12:30pm
Lunch.

1:30-4:00pm
Rock art.
Visit to DOC Information Centre.

4:00pm
Assemble at Railway Station if travelling by Train.
